Congo Proximity Discipleship Plan
Introduction
When we look at things in all their depth, it is clearly established that, no matter what is in the heart of men and women, indeed only the Lord’s project is promised to be accomplished (ref. Proverbs 19:21). Therefore, God's children are invited to focus on the essential plan of God in Jesus Christ. The Bible says: "Jesus came and spoke to them, saying All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age" (Matt 28:18-20). The Great Commission is that boundless mission instruction toward making of every believer in Christ, a disciple maker. This discipleship is God's plan for every member of the Church as the Body of Christ.
Context and Justification
The crisis challenging the world economy continues to take its toll on nations. One of the immediate consequences is the lack of stable employment in the Republic of Congo. In the regions of Niari and Bouenza, men and women are forced to engage in survival farming activities. Most of these people, although motivated in the implementation of their projects, cannot do enough, because of the lack of shareable land near their homes. Thus, they are forced to migrate to areas a little far from their homes in order to obtain cultivatable land at favorable price for them.
This constitutes a real cause of depopulation in the church life in the cities of Dolisie and Nkayi. In addition to this, there is the relaxation in the faith and the integration of traditional religious group for these Christians who have been disconnected from the church for long period of time.
Therefore, in order to bring a spiritual relief to all these children of God, very passionate in their efforts to survive through this self-employment program, the Christian and Missionary Alliance Churches of the of Congo (EACMC), is in the course of implementing this proximity discipleship project.
Specific objectives
This four-year project’s goals are to:
Ensure the growth and stability of at least 1,200 disciples per year;
Provide guidance in improving performance and productivity in at least 30 villages per year where agricultural activities are carried out;
To ensure the planting of at least 15 outreach churches per year.
Strategic approach
To achieve the above listed objectives, we propose the following strategic actions:
Organize bi-annually discipleship Training of Trainers conferences in each of the two regions;
Creation of outposts or village centers for the training and mentoring of disciples;
Deployment of at least three (3) rotating missionaries (trainers and disciples) in each outpost.
Acquisition and deployment of equipment to improve the performance of agricultural activities (plowing, clearing brush, pruning, etc.…) in the outposts.
Supervision of agricultural workers in:
The management of agricultural equipment.
Short-, mid- and long-term crop selection.
Hygiene, safety, health and environment.
Design and construction of worship buildings for the gathering of disciples.
Identification and training of a generation of new local leaders (among the agricultural workers) by means of the portable school;
Conclusion
The execution (funding and implementation) of this project is the responsibility of the Church of Jesus Christ. All the necessary resources are expected to make God's work move forward.
General objective
The purpose motivating this project is to support a large number of children of the living God in consolidation of their faith while engaged in the Mission Field of promoting Income Generating Activities.
