Devenney Dispatch
Greetings from Lima, Peru
Through these seemingly uncertain times, God has been working all things for His glory. Here is a quick glimpse of what has been going on here in Peru!
Our family of four! The strict quarantine laws in Peru have allowed us to create many wonderful memories as a family over the last four months.
Our ministry's work, though now more limited in scope, has never before been felt as indispensable. The sole mode of our labor has been restricted to the virtual world, though that has proved to be more challenging and, by the grace of our God, more fructiferous than we had originally imagined. By the Lord's providence, this year we also launched our bible club materials online through a new virtual platform, which has proved to be the opportune blessing as hundreds of churches had to instantly switch over to all-online content.
Our Discipleship program has also been somewhat hindered, as the drastic quarantine restrictions are only now being slightly lifted (very slightly). We have 16 students that have been studying via the internet. We have our bible studies online, the professors record the lessons and upload them to be watched, and we meet individually with the students over the phone for one-on-one discipleship. All considered, we are very thankful for the opportunity and means to continue to train young followers of Christ to serve Him!
Luciana has absolutely LOVED being a big sister to Liam, and lets him know daily!
We are currently sending off to be printed roughly 30,000 evangelistic pamphlets which we plan to then send out through the many interesting churches to be handed out in public locations (with the proper protocol, of course) in order to continue to share the gospel of Jesus Christ! We hope to coordinate this evangelism throughout all of Lima on the 10th or 11th of August!
On a personal note, Liam is very well and healthy and Luciana, though suffering indoors for the past four months, absolutely loves her little brother and cares for him dearly! This extra time stuck inside had allowed me more time to finish my Bachelor of Science degree, which was recently conferred to me. I have been using other free moments to partner with another ministry here in Peru, translating Christian works of antiquity to the Spanish language, where they will be later published for the edification of the saints!
Prayer Requests
That the CEED students would continue to grow in their faith and knowledge of Christ
That the evangelistic campaign would prove eternally beneficial
For safety and health as we travel between the property and Lima
We invite you to visit the Palabra de Vida Peru (Word of Life Peru) page on Facebook to be able to view more pictures of what we are doing as a ministry and see more photos from the aforementioned activities and events.
